Your tasks

Topic of the thesis:
Development of a methodology for investigating electrical ageing mechanisms in insulation materials under DC electric field stress in the context of direct current technologies. This work is part of the Eureka research project TranscCCoDe and contributes to the sustainable use and lifetime assessment of electrical insulation materials.

  • Familiarization with the physical principles of electrical insulation materials as well as relevant testing and measurement methods
  • Design and setup of an appropriate experimental environment for investigating insulation materials under defined electrical and climatic conditions
  • Development of a systematic methodology for the characterization and evaluation of material-specific electrical properties
  • Planning, execution, and analysis of measurement campaigns on various material samples
  • Investigation and assessment of the influence of the measurement environment and test setup on the obtained results
  • Derivation and documentation of findings, including the discussion of potential correlations between electrical stress conditions and material behavior

Your profile

  • Degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, physics, materials science, or a comparable technical field
  • Interest in electrical measurement technology, high-voltage engineering, materials, and energy technologies
  • Initial practical experience in a laboratory or research setting is a plus
  • Analytical and structured approach to work, as well as strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and enjoy scientific work
  • Good written and spoken German and English skills
